About

FOUNDER
Marta Folch is the Founder of Circul8 and is currently pursuing a B.Sc. in Business Administration and Tech Entrepreneurship at Babson College. At 15, she had already founded two social enterprises: Clothy, a platform to upcycle clothes, and HelpUp, an app connecting young people with volunteer opportunities. She is ambitious, curious, and creative.

THE IDEA
The idea of Circul8 emerged the past summer, as Marta found herself constantly seeking for public plugs or cafes to charge her phone when being away throughout the day. She realized not only how weak phone batteries are, but also the energy wasted and carbon emissions generated when billions of devices are charged daily.

With Circul8, Marta aims to solve two issues: on-the-go charging as well as promoting green energy. With the growth of the smartphone and mobile device industry, where global mobile usage exceeds 7 billion devices, Circul8 addresses a pressing issue and does it in a way that has not been done before.

Journey & Vision

We are currently working on launching a pilot in several universities in Barcelona, which already has accessible city-wide systems of renewable energy. When the product starts to gain traction, we will scale it throughout the entire city of Barcelona. We will then expand to other European cities that also have such established systems.

In the long term, we aim to have an impact beyond, introducing the concept in regions that still do not have reliable renewable energy availability, introducing such technology in the communities which need it most. We will do that by upgrading our charging stations so that they can generate green energy autonomously, encouraging green energy advancement in locations that did not have the infrastructure before.
